Position Summary:
Verdant Specialty Solutions is looking to add a strong accountant to our corporate accounting team. Reporting to the Assistant Global Controller, this position will be responsible for various accounting functions of the global entity. Key responsibilities include active involvement in the global month-end close process, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, improving the current accounting processes and ERP, and dedication to the success of the department and organization. This role offers the right candidate the opportunity to grow and build a well-rounded accounting experience.
Position Responsibilities:
- Active engagement in performing month-end close activities for the global entity, including preparing and posting of journal entries and timely completion of account reconciliations and support schedules.
- Complete day-to-day accounting tasks, including posting entries, reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies.
- Take ownership of assigned accounting functions, including lease and fixed asset accounting, intangible assets, and payroll accounting.
- Maintain the Roll Forward, Register and Tie-Out of fixed assets, leases, and intangible assets.
- Perform value-added weekly and monthly P&L analytical review of Fixed Plant Costs and SG&A expenses.
- Prepare reports and present financial and other information clearly, in oral and written format, to senior management, auditors, and other internal and external customers.
- Assist in the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and best practices.
- Maintain a continuous improvement approach and professional skepticism mindset to improve the integrity of financial records, ERP, financial reporting and internal controls.
- Perform analysis and generate analytical reports using micro and macro level data.
- Assist external auditors and tax preparers in interim and annual audits and tax filings.
- Support team members in the accounting department and other cross-functional teams.
- Perform special projects and ad hoc requests as required.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Fluency in German and English (Required)
- CPA or active pursuit of CPA certification.
- 3-5 years of corporate accounting experience, with a track record of value-added accomplishments and increased responsibility.
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of GAAP accounting and familiarity with three statement model.
- Knowledge and experience in fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, and intangibles
- Deep P&L analytical review of fixed plant costs and SG&A expenses during the month and at month-end.
- Highest standard for integrity, accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; advanced knowledge of Excel (advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, Macros, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to identify process improvements and utilize automation methods to create efficiency and scalability.
- Self-motivated and highly driven with the willingness to go the extra mile when needed.
- A fast learner that picks up new processes with minimal training and takes initiative to resolve problems.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player, along with a positive attitude.
- A detail-oriented, responsible, organized, dependable and professional individual who is dedicated to learning and growing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively manage with limited resources.
- IFS experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing and international accounting, particularly Europe, strongly preferred.
