JOB DESCRIPTION:


Blue World is looking for an experienced Equipment Operator to start immediately in our Texas office in Houston. We are looking for a candidate with experience operating hydraulic excavators, dozers, and loaders in varying soil conditions, working varied shifts in the field under various climates. Experience with excavators from mini to 80,000 lbs. excavating trenches for pipes/conduits, foundations, loading haul trucks, light clearing/demo, minor grading and similar tasks is preferred. This position requires a person willing to be a “jack of all trades,” in that operator experience is necessary, but the ability to hop off the machine and work within the crew performing other tasks such as maintenance, prep, clearing/cutting, pipe installation above/below ground, welding, minor carpentry, HDPE fusion and other field construction tasks is required. The ideal candidate must also have an excellent work ethic, a willingness to learn new skills, have a team mentality, and be safety-oriented in all situations and environments. In turn, there are many opportunities for growth, promotion, and compensation.


The compensation for this position, while commensurate with operating experience, can pay more than most due to the need to do more than just operate equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Construction Experience—5 years minimum

  • The ability to operate various types of bulldozers, excavators, and front loaders is required

  • Driver’s License—Required and in good standing; CDL preferred, but not necessary

  • Education—high school or equivalent required; training & certifications HDPE pipe fusion, equipment operation, welding and/or rigging preferred;
  • Certifications in OSHA 30 Hr, OSHA 40 Hr 1910.120 HAZWOPER preferred

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Performing heavy construction and environmental remedial construction projects in line with company standards

  • Operate various typesof hydraulic excavation equipment—Deere, CAT, and similar

  • Ability and experience working with pipeline trenches, pipe installation, site work and grading, cut/fill, liner work

  • Ability to use hand tools and construction equipment safely and efficiently

  • Taking direction effectively and professionally from project managers and potentially construction superintendents

  • Performing activities outside typical construction tasks.

  • Occasionally acting as job Foreman, implementing multiple tasks, and overseeing a small crew’s daily activities

  • Occasionally non-operator work tasks are included daily and weekly that require physical/labor elements

  • Travel in TX and surrounding states


Experience that is beneficial to have for this position:



  • Working with mechanical, pipeline work, electrical, fabrication, concrete/masonry and plumbing, rigging, and structural welding

  • Operating other equipment such as skidsteers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, telehandlers, forklifts, etc. is beneficial


CERTIFICATIONS:



  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification and any current updates is preferred

  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 10- or 30-hour training, Competent Person, MSHA, etc. are preferred


TYPICAL HOURS/SCHEDULE:



  • 7am-4pm

  • Monday-Friday

  • Overtime is available


PAY: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
