Convergentz, a division of Hunton Group in Houston, TX (www.huntongroup.com), has a new and exciting opportunity for you to join our organization as a Fire Alarm Designer. In this role, you will be instrumental in creating fire alarm shop drawings using AutoCAD. Ideal candidate will develop expertise in selecting fire alarm system components, interpreting code compliance requirements, and applying industry standards for fire protection systems. Additionally, you will assist with surveying existing systems, preparing drawings, listing materials, and conducting field surveys to ensure successful installations. Responsibilities:



  • Assist in preparing fire alarm design drawings for commercial and residential buildings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and within time and budget constraints.

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new systems and technologies.

  • Continuously expand knowledge in fire protection through on-the-job training and self-directed learning.

  • Maintain and organize project drawing files, drawing libraries, and associated records.

  • Ensure the accuracy of your work, reflecting a strong sense of ownership and pride in your contributions.

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of three years of fire alarm design experience.

  • Current State of Texas APS certification.

  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude, with a passion for excelling in the field.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2018 or higher, with the ability to quickly learn new software.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Consistent employment history over the last three years.

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, with occasional on-site visits and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Willingness to travel out of town as needed.

  • NICET Fire Alarm Level 2 or 3 Certification is a plus.
