About the Role:

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is seeking a self-motivated, versatile Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Corporal. Under the direction of a Lieutenant or equivalent rank or higher may exercise lead responsibilities for a shift or team of the District Law Enforcement Unit (DLE). The Corporal performs Command Center duties as assigned and may influence personnel within the shift in the application of Law Enforcement standard operating procedures and supports DLE and Bank mission, vision, priorities, goals, and objectives.

You Will:

  • Act as lead in the absence of a sergeant/lieutenant in the operation and monitoring of the Enterprise Physical Access Security System (ePASS), Video Surveillance System (VSS) and all related devices and communication systems in the Command Center.
  • Must understand and effectively operate multi-faceted computer systems (e.g. ePASS/VSS, elevator management, and fire control systems) to adhere to minimum security guidelines and established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate Command Center, shift, and team operations, activities and response to emergencies such as activating alarms, obtaining police, fire, or ambulance assistance or directing personnel resources as needed.
  • Direct periodic testing of all equipment such as duress alarms, override functions, motion and entry detection systems and provide situation reports.
  • Assist in the management of command center equipment (AEDs, Cell phones, keys, etc.).
  • Prepare electronic journals, incident reports and other documents as needed or directed.
  • Coordinate with supervisors’ approval, law enforcement officers activities (e.g., assigns tours, post rotation, and garage checks) which may include calling in replacement personnel and changing post assignments.
  • Carry out essential duties required as a team member on one of the special assignment units.
  • May assist in creating mission specific operations plans, assist management with research, employee training, document preparation and filing and mission execution related to their specific assignment (e.g. SRT, EPS, and FTO).
  • Perform all duties of a FR Law Enforcement Officer when not assigned in the command center or on a specialize team/assignment.

You Have:

  • Preferably a minimum of 30 hours from an accredited college and a high school diploma or have passed a General Education Development (GED) test. College hours may be waived in lieu of applicable military and/or traditional law enforcement experience or if the applicant is a current FRLEO.
  • Minimum age of 21 or older. Valid driver`s license issued by the state of residence and must not be prohibited from being licensed or driving in any U.S. state
  • Selected candidate must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation to ensure the qualifications and standards as defined by the Federal Reserve System (System) and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (Bank) are met
  • Successfully pass Basic Law Enforcement Course and annual/mandated FRLEO In-Service Training and weapons qualification tests and any specific certifications, re-certifications and or physical fitness/weapons proficiency tests as required of a member on a special assignment team
  • Ability to think and act quickly; make timely and appropriate decisions based on limited information
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communications skills
  • Write clear, concise, and grammatically correct documents
  • Computer skills to operate automated systems; First Aid/CPR skills and AED equipment
  • Ability to operate x-ray, chemical/bio, metal detection, CCTV and other LEU related equipment
  • Ability to maintain physical fitness level appropriate for job duties.
  • Working knowledge in the use of PCs, email, and police equipment and technology systems and able to learn other computer based/ MS Office applications
  • Demonstrate ownership and responsibility for successfully completing assigned tasks and contributing to achieving shift/team objectives
  • Proficient customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain good working relations with co-workers, management and Bank staff
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements

Notes:

  • This position may be filled at various levels based on candidate's qualifications as determined by the department.
  • Must be examined by a physician selected by the Bank and be certified as physically fit for duty as a FRLEO.
  • Physical demands of the position include, but are not limited to: standing, walking, or climbing several flights of stairs regularly; run, climb, crouch, or crawl occasionally; lift 25 to 50 pounds, frequently; and lift 100 pounds or more occasionally.
  • Be examined by a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist selected by the Bank and be certified as mentally fit for duty as a FRLEO.
  • Show no trace of illegal drug dependency or illegal drug use after a physical examination and NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) approved tests.
  • If the applicant is a former law enforcement officer, the applicant may not have been separated from their license under less than honorable conditions, nor can their license be under suspension or revoked by the licensing agency or authority.
  • If the applicant has former military service, the applicant may not have been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions as stipulated on an official DD-214 or similar document.
  • Must not have been convicted of a: felony; class A misdemeanor; class B misdemeanor in the ten years before the date of application to become a FRLEO; or class C misdemeanor involving: violence, theft, deception, drugs, alcohol, public safety or moral turpitude, other than minor traffic offenses, in the five years before the date of application to become a FRLEO; or family violence offense.
  • Must not be indicted/awaiting trial or subject to any court order relating to a criminal prosecution.
  • Must not be prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition. The chief will make the final hiring/promoting decision on all applicants.
  • For purposes of these procedures, a conviction includes court-ordered community supervision, probation, deferred adjudication, or any plea that requires an acknowledgement of guilt, including nolo contendere.
  • This role supports the ongoing operation of the Bank and requires working onsite at the Federal Reserve work location 100% of the time.
