General Description

Key responsibilities will include supporting the following functions:

  • Provide support to the day-to-day HR operations.
  • Review for accuracy and completeness all forms and documents required to process new hires, terminations and other employee transactions for employees of Crane Companies. Ensure that the appropriate forms and documents have been initiated for all of these transactions in a timely manner.
  • Thorough and accurate skills required to input into the system of record (UKG) all employee transactions in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the processing of unemployment claims with appropriate Third Party Agency (TPA) and respond to requests for additional information made by the TPA.
  • Responsible for operational and technical HR duties to include: computer entry and file maintenance; new hire orientation; creation and maintenance of confidential personnel files and personnel actions in compliance with applicable legal requirements; maintain computer employee data information; miscellaneous employee requests; assist in exit interview process; assist HR Manager with projects.
  • Familiarize self with employee handbooks and reference appropriate policies to employees with questions.
  • Collect and analyze data to ensure integrity of accurate information for processing HR transactions in the system of record.
  • Makes copies, faxes documents, prepares and processes mail and performs other clerical functions.
  • Provide HR General support to the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.

  • Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
  • Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically with less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.).
  • Moderate dexterity of hands and fingers - regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination

  • Ability to deal with high pressure situations, deadlines and moderate work stress.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work; adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; deal with frequent change.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills; excellent interpersonal skills; and proven computer literacy (Microsoft Office Applications, Outlook, Internet).
  • Ability to work in a confidential manner when dealing with sensitive and confidential information and documents.
  • Detail-orientated in order to maintain filing system and flow of paperwork that applies to HR.
  • Basic knowledge of principles and practices of HR including payroll, benefits, & FMLA preferred.
  • Basic analytical skills in interpreting data to ensure accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic business mathematics and calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Education and Direct Work Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 - 3 years’ work experience in an HR support position.
  • Basic experience with an HRIS database preferred.
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish is a plus
