Role Summary:


The Lead Accountant role is responsible for providing advanced accounting support for a specific business segment, which includes gross margin accounting, inventory accounting, operating expenses, and other general ledger accounting activities.  The role will require preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, detailed variance analysis as well as performing inter-company accounting, supporting the monthly close process, reporting results to upper management and participating in other general accounting projects as assigned.


 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:



  • Journal Entry. Prepare recurring and other journal entries to support the monthly BMS Accounting close process.

  • Account Reconciliation. Prepare various monthly account reconciliations and track all approved account reconciliations.

  • Audit Support. Prepare supporting schedules for audit activities as assigned.

  • GL Accounting. Analyze various general ledger accounts on a regular basis.

  • Budgeting. Assist in the preparation of budgets as needed.

  • Reporting. Communicate monthly results to management and other business units. Develop reports as needed.

  • Projects. Participate in special projects and support other accounting functions as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.


 


Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline or equivalent experience is required. 

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.

  • 3+ years public accounting experience is preferred.

  • Significant proficiency utilizing MS Excel to perform accounting related tasks is required.

  • Experience with general ledger packages such as JD Edwards is preferred

  • Exposure to analytic packages such as Cognos or Hyperion is preferred

  • Prior utilization of trading software (e.g. Solarc Right Angle) is preferred


  


Certificates & Licenses:



  • CPA Eligible


 


Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:



  • In order to succeed in this position, the incumbent must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with excellent writing and oral communication skills. 

  • This is a very detail-oriented position that requires a great deal of accuracy. 

  • Strict deadlines and timelines must be adhered to with regards to reporting requirements. 

  • One must be available to work overtime when necessary.
