Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oil and Gas Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering with specialized knowledge in oil and gas industry practices. The primary responsibility of this role is to design, develop, implement, and maintain electrical systems and equipment used in oil and gas production, refining, and distribution facilities. The Oil and Gas Electrical Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems within the industry's unique operational environments.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and oversee the installation of electrical systems and equipment for oil and gas facilities, including drilling rigs, production platforms, refineries, pipelines, and distribution terminals.
  2. Develop electrical engineering specifications, drawings, and documentation in compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., NEC, API, NEMA).
  3. Conduct electrical load calculations, power distribution studies, and short-circuit analysis to optimize system performance and reliability.
  4. Specify and select electrical components, equipment, and materials based on project requirements, technical specifications, and budget constraints.
  5. Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely procurement, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  6. Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate electrical hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
  7. Troubleshoot electrical issues, diagnose failures, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
  8. Conduct inspections, tests, and preventive maintenance activities to identify and address potential equipment failures and safety hazards.
  9. Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams for troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications of electrical systems and equipment.
  10. Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting electrical engineering practices in the oil and gas sector.
  11. Participate in project meetings, reviews, and audits to ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
  12. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team and across the organization.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
  2. Minimum of five years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on the oil and gas industry.
  3. In-depth knowledge of electrical design principles, power systems, equipment sizing, and protection schemes.
  4. Familiarity with industry standards and codes relevant to oil and gas electrical engineering (e.g., API, ANSI, IEEE).
  5. Proficiency in electrical engineering software tools for design, analysis, and simulation (e.g., ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD).
  6. Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  8. Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking for troubleshooting complex electrical issues.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
  10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  11. Willingness to travel to project sites, including offshore platforms and remote locations, as required.
  12. Valid driver's license and willingness to comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements, as per industry standards.
