Piping Designer II



Job Summary:

Performs routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in piping basic drafting techniques, procedures, and knowledge of certain industry standards under moderate supervision.  Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities. Individual must act as a professional in all interactions with team personnel and clients.



Job Responsibilities:


  • Independently develops CAD drawings using CADWorx/AutoCadPlant 3D software from scratch utilizing design sketches or catalog information.

  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and implemented in work designed.

  • Performs under direction from the lead, basic engineering /design calculations, sizing components and layouts consistent with assigned discipline to produce efficient and workable drawings for projects.

  • Performs related fundamental engineering support tasks such as updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, compiling Bills of Material, etc.

  • Supports field assignments as required.

  • Field notes are neatly arranged, accurate and complete.

  • Must be able to perform the functions of the lower level classifications.

  • Independently undertake actions, make recommendations, or provide notification when potential problems and opportunities are discovered or additional assignments are required.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Produce clear and organized output, with conformance to standards.




Job Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.

  • Required: 5 years, field experience, experience working in the refining/petrochemical industry(s) preferred.  2 years of experience as Piping Designer on medium and large multi-discipline projects utilizing 3D software to produce all deliverables.

  • Preferred: 7 years of technical work experience. As an alternative, a minimum of two years of education in an associate or bachelor’s degree program for the relevant discipline and five years of experience.  Experience based multiple projects utilizing 3D software to produce all deliverables.

  • ACAD/Cadworx/Autocad Plant 3D proficiency from modeling to create isometrics.

  • Able to work with RECAP - scan files.
