Principal Mechanical Engineer - Furnaces

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. This is a senior staff engineer position.  Incumbent will be responsible for the specification and application of fired equipment including heaters, flares, thermal oxidizers, burners and emissions reduction systems.  Duties include requisitioning, bid evaluation and recommendation.  Additional duties include specification, selection and services relating to mechanical equipment such as fans, turbines, lube oil systems and waste heat boilers.  

 

Job Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer, or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with chemical, petrochemical, refining, and oil and gas projects is preferred, especially LNG liquefaction, ammonia, ethylene, refining and offshore facilities.
  • Additional experience with installation and commissioning is a plus
  • Engineering contractor experience is a plus
  • Knowledgeable with analysis of fluid/thermal systems
  • Ability to collect field data and perform heat and material balance
  • Attend witness testing for burners, fans and fuel gas skids
  • Familiarity with the application of fans for fired equipment
  • Ability to provide technical guidance for designers and drafters.
  • Working knowledge of current API standards for fired heaters, flares, thermal oxidizers, fans, lube oil console, DeNox systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally
  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies
