Project Accountant (Direct Hire)

About the Role

You’ll support project accounting, billing, and AR across complex construction projects, working within a team that values efficiency, precision, and accountability.

What You'll Do (Primary Duties & Responsibilities)

• Submit client invoices aligned with construction contracts and billing standards

• Monitor AR aging and proactively resolve outstanding balances

• Align billing with project milestones and percentage-of-completion calculations

• Reconcile accounts, fix billing discrepancies, and apply payments correctly

• Manage lien waivers, retainage, and compliance documents per contract terms

• Ensure timely collections while preserving strong client relationships

• Assist in AR and cash flow forecast preparation

• Provide audit support and ensure proper documentation

• Promote financial management best practices

Must-Haves Checklist

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

• 5+ years of functional experience

• Proven track record in AR within a construction setting

• Familiarity with AIA billing documentation (G702/G703)

• Strong grasp on retainage, lien releases, change orders, and job costing
