Position Description


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating visually appealing and impactful designs that effectively communicate the brand message and meet the needs of our clients. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical skills, and a keen eye for detail to produce high-quality graphics for various media, including print, digital, and social platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing their design expertise and a passion for staying updated with the latest design trends and technologies.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Experience in photography, videography, writing content, and social media.
  • Develop innovative design concepts, graphics, and layouts for various projects.
  • Create visually engaging graphics for websites, social media, email campaigns, advertisements, brochures, posters, and other marketing materials.
  • Prepare and optimize designs for print and digital formats, ensuring high-quality output.
  • Maintain and uphold brand standards across all designs, ensuring a cohesive visual identity.
  • Update and refine existing design assets to meet current branding guidelines.
  • Work closely with other designers, marketing professionals, and clients to brainstorm and execute design solutions.
  • Present design concepts and receive feedback to make necessary adjustments and improvements.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Keep abreast of project timelines and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.

Requirements


Education:

  • Associates degree in communications, journalism, graphic design or a related field.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in public engagement, community outreach and graphic design.

 

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to write professionally at a high level; prior AP-style writing experience required.
  • Basic photography/photo editing skills.
  • Experience using a content management system.
  • Ability to understand the media environment to facilitate accurate and timely dissemination of information to the public.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information at all times.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, relative autonomy, and general review.
  • Ability to self-start; assume ownership in setting goals.
  • Requires strong knowledge using office-related and communication software.
  • Utilize good time management skills and effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks/initiatives.

Preferences


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, or related field.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in public engagement, community outreach and graphic design. 


Knowledge, Skill & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Experience using the Adobe software suite for design.


General Information


Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Full-Time | Regular | 40 hours per week.
  • Hybrid schedule: Three days in the office and two days working from home.
  • Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload.  

 

Salary: 

  • Commensurate with experience, based on 26 pay periods.

 

Physical Demands and Environmental Exposure: 

Most assignments will be performed in an office, meeting, or operations command center environment, but some field work may be required. May be required to work extended work hours during activation of disaster recovery operations for an unspecified length of time (varies based on the extent of the event).

This position requires bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs., frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and ascending/descending stairs.
