FocusOne Mortgage Solutions is looking for an experienced In-house Report Writer. We are located in Northwest Houston. We seek an experienced IT Report Writer proficient in Power BI, Pentaho, and Crystal Reports to join our data analytics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence reports that provide insights to support decision-making. You will work closely with various departments, analyzing data requirements and translating them into clear, actionable reports and dashboards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Convert reports from Crystal Reports to Pentaho
- Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI, replacing reports currently used in Pentaho and Crystal Reports
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze data requirements and translate them into effective reporting solutions.
- Utilize data modeling techniques to transform raw data into meaningful visualizations.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract relevant data from multiple databases and data sources.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity by performing regular testing, validation, and troubleshooting of reports.
- Document report creation processes and ensure all reports are aligned with business goals and KPIs.
- Provide training and support to end-users on how to interact with and interpret the reports.
- Assist in data mining, analysis, and creating ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Stay updated with the latest features and updates in Power BI, Pentaho, and Crystal Reports to optimize reporting processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in creating reports using Power BI.
- Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write complex queries.
- Experience with data modeling and integration of multiple data sources into reports.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
- Familiarity with relational databases, data warehouses, and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) in Power BI is a plus.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience in data visualization and design principles.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R for advanced data manipulation.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
SOFT SKILLS
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
