About the role

As a Senior Account Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and providing strategic guidance and operational support to our Group Retirement clients and mentorship to other Account Managers within your team.  You will work with various internal and external stakeholders and manage various complex and high priority projects in all phases.  Best of all you will become the primary resource for subject matter expertise on retirement plans and the plan sponsor operational processes. As an influencer at AIG, people come to you as a “go-to” source for help and support because of your deep knowledge and expertise. As a more experienced team member, you are capable of driving continual improvement and impacting the way that things get done. Because of your influence, whether direct or indirect, we are able to deliver powerful outcomes for our clients.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational aspects for group client retirement plans, to ensure that Plan Sponsors’ requests are completed timely and accurately.
  • Utilize a strong understanding of plan provisions for retirement plans and how this applies to day-to-day operations.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal teams to deliver solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and propose new tools and processes.
  • Respond to questions, perform research, and provide group clients with pertinent plan-related information regarding plan activity and operations for their assigned plans.
  • Understand client needs and identify new business opportunities within your book of business.
  • Maintain assigned retirement plans with complexities that may include controlled groups and individually designed plan documents and groups with special exceptions and provisions.
  • Conduct regular review and oversight of group/plan relationships to ensure accurate plan messaging, audit transaction processing and reporting.  Provide supplemental reporting to management as needed.
  • Exhibit leadership and act as a mentor for Account Managers.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and feedback to assist Account Managers with the management of their group clients.
  • Meet with team members as needed to gain an understanding of projects and activities.
  • Support the team and other business partners to help improve overall performance and reach targets.
  • Develop and maintain excellent knowledge and understanding of our business, offerings, competitors, and industry.
  • Be proactive, positive, and passionate about company offerings and how they create value for clients.

What you need to know

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in the group retirement services industry is highly preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of pension plan types and defined contribution plans.
  • Proven customer service, account management relationship building, and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
