As a Senior Systems Analyst supporting Manufacturing Business Technology at the Houston site, you will be trusted to play a crucial role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions in a manufacturing setting. You will serve as a strategic partner and liaison between information technology (IT) and manufacturing operations identifying and delivering solutions improving the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, manufacturing process knowledge, business acumen, and excellent communication skills.

In this role, essential functions include:

Solution Delivery:

  • Act as IT Business Partner for Manufacturing and supporting functions (Quality, Materials, HSE); collaborate with business partners to identify needs, gather requirements, and define IT solution scopes.
  • Identify and deliver scalable Advanced Analytics and AI/ML solutions with Data Engineering and Data Science teams.
  • Oversee small to mid-sized IT projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  • Create functional and technical documentation for software programs.
  • Develop enhancements and add-ons for existing MES systems.

IT Operations:

  • Serve as Application Manager for assigned applications in the local manufacturing and quality portfolio
  • Address performance or availability issues to minimize disruptions; support global incident management and security teams in resolving major incidents.
  • Manage MES systems, including patches, upgrades, and performance monitoring; develop procedures and knowledge base documents for MES systems.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and local point of contact for key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on computer system validation (CSV) plans and ensure compliance with GxP standards.
  • Support internal audits and prepare necessary responses.
  • Lead IT systems user access reviews and maintain quality and risk deliverables.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience
  • Prior experience in data, business, and/or systems analyst roles.
  • Prior experience in IT in a Manufacturing environment; understanding of manufacturing business processes related to Manufacturing execution systems (MES), including proficiency with coding/debugging MES Applications
  • Experience with structured querying language (SQL) and relational database schemas.
  • Experience with Database/OS: Oracle 11g, SQL server knowledge, Application Server (Windows and Linux)
  • Intermediate/Advanced proficiency - ASP.net; PL/SQL statements for Oracle and SQL DB
