The Teacher Assistant works as a partner with the school team in developing and delivering educational experiences for BakerRipley Community School students to provide an enriched learning environment. Lessons and student management support the school in carrying out goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards.


CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Assist in supporting access to learning and supporting activities outlined in the IEP for student(s), plus provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a highly qualified teacher/leader (Title I, Section 1119 (g) (2).

  2. Provide instructional services to students under the guidance of the classroom teacher.

  3. Participates in the screening, observation, and documentation of progress of students through assessment tools identified by the campus or district.

  4. Assist with classroom management, such as by organizing instructional materials.

  5. Provide instructional assistance in a computer laboratory.

  6. Provide one-on-one tutoring if such tutoring is scheduled at a time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher.

  7. Contribute to the collection and edit processes of the National School Lunch Program and attendance.

  8. Conduct parental involvement activities.

  9. Provide instructional support in a library or media center.

  10. Make home visits with the teacher as required or requested.

  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION:


An Associate’s (or higher) degree, or have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours). Experience teaching students with special needs in the general education classroom can substitute for educational requirements.Β
