Spring 2025 Software Engineering Intern

KBR is seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEERING INTERN to support our SPACE SUIT OPERATIONS TEAM for KBR’s Science and Space division on the xEVAS contract. 

The ENGINEERING INTERN will participate in various learning opportunities designed to expose students to multiple disciplines in Software Engineering & Integration.  This is a full-time position for students looking to conduct an internship for their Spring 2025 semester. At the end of the internship, the student will present the results of their cumulative internship project to the engineering management team. Interns will be supported by key engineering staff and work will be performed under the supervision of experience and senior staff members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, test, handle implementation of full stack 3D software.
  • Create and manipulate 3D models.
  • 3D rigging of digital assets.
  • Design User Interface/ User Experience of Graphical User Interfaces.
  • Design and implement back-end database connections.
  • Work with customers and stakeholders to meet requirements and understand stakeholder needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s level degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Game Development, Interactive Media, Information Technology, Data Science or related disciplines.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Must have acquired at minimum sophomore or higher academic standing by the start of the internship is preferred
  • Must have a strong STEM background and be comfortable working with advanced technology used in human-rated spaceflight hardware.
  • Familiarity with game engine software such as Unreal Engine.
  • Proficiency with C++ or equivalent object-oriented programming language.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Some entry level experience and passion in mechanical design, 3D CAD design (Solidworks, Creo, or similar) is desired.
  • Familiarity with web development is a plus.
  • Experience with authentication services.
  • Ability to manage multiple task and projects effectively, and routinely interact with cross-functional groups
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
  • Good interpersonal skills
