Sr. Electrical Designer

As a Sr. Designer you will be responsible for designing technical drawings for high voltage substation systems.

The job role involves the following duties:

Sr. Designer

• Create detailed electrical designs for new substation projects, update existing drawings as needed, and communicate with clients about changes.


• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other construction professionals to ensure the design is feasible for the intended purpose.


• Perform calculations to determine the voltage drop across conductors, transformer capacities, and amperage drawn from electrical equipment.


• Review and revise design plans to ensure compliance with building codes and electrical standards.


• Create electrical schematics and diagrams using computer-aided design (CAD) software.


• Prepare estimates of material costs and labor hours for projects


• Conduct design reviews and checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.


• Manage any corrections of technical issues during project execution.

Qualifications

• College degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting or related field preferred.


• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on substation projects.


• Proficient with AutoCAD software


• Experience with the production of design drawings.


• Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi-task with attention to detail.


• Self-motivated, team player with excellent people skills.


• High level of discretion with confidential material


• Excellent customer service skills


• Familiar with NESC, OSHA, NEC, ANSI/IEEE, NEMA, and NFPA for substation design


• Understanding of physical and P&C designs and the purpose of drawings between the two design aspects


• Able to perform cable and conduit designs and BOM cut sheets to support drawings.


• Able to build design packages to help support engineering major milestone objectives for the Engineer of Record
