We are currently in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team. This is a growth opportunity as we are adding to the department.
Overview
The Staff Accountant I provides support to the Assistant Controller by performing critical accounting functions including but not limited to the duties listed below. The Staff Accountant I assists with the month-end close, financial reporting, variation analysis, reconciliations, monthly & annual budgets, capital budgets, accounts receivable, inventory and debt covenant calculations. The Staff Accountant I position will also aid in the review and improvement of internal controls throughout the Accounting Department and occasionally throughout the organization. The position will aid in performing analytical analyses to ensure timely, accurate and quality insight being provided to Executive Management related to the Company’s financial and operational activities.
Job Duties
- Prepare and record weekly, monthly and quarterly general ledger journal entries for each of the Company’s subsidiaries assigned.
- Assist with the preparation of Monthly Financial Reporting including the Balance Sheets, Income Statements and Statements of Cash Flows.
- Monitor and analyze the Company’s financial performance against key business metrics and document key financial highlights to Executive Management.
- Aid in the establishment and maintenance of the Monthly Executive Financial Reporting Package.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Assist with the documentation of the policies and procedures of the Accounting Department ensuring consistent application and follow through is being performed.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Budgeting and Forecasting models and processes.
- Record Invoice cash remittances, credits, RMAs, etc. related to Accounts Receivable daily maintaining constant communication with customers and departments.
- Aid in the performance of the monthly Debt Covenant calculations and bank reporting.
- Prepare audit schedules and assist with the year-end Corporate Audit.
- Ensure reporting requirements for the Company are produced in a timely & accurate manner.
- Perform assigned projects in a timely and efficient manner.
- Other unlisted duties will be assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in Accounting.
- CPA certification is highly preferred but not required.
- Strong analysis skills experience with Balance Sheets, Income Statements and Statements of Cash Flows required.
- Moderate to Advanced level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint. Advanced MS Excel skills includes ability to work with lookups, pivot tables and macros.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to positively interact with Executive Management and employees within the Company.
- Advanced attention to detail with accuracy required for preparation of reports, memos, documentation and presentations.
- Strong analytical skills along with the ability to interpret numbers and trends within the business results and make recommendations to Management.
- Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature in an office environment.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
