TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Systems Administrator I to join our team in Houston, Texas.


 


Job Summary:   The Systems Administrator I position provides day-to-day technical support for existing customer installations as well as new deployments of proprietary multi-server tolling applications. Responsible for working both independently and in coordination with the help desk to resolve issues in a timely manner. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly

  • Install and configure software and hardware

  • Maintains servers, user accounts.

  • Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed

  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including servers, switches, firewalls, security updates, LANs, WANs

  • Report an alerts to other team members and help repair if needed.

  • Daily system maintenance review, such as systems log, antivirus server logs, etc.

  • Interact with the other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed

  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems

  • Provides troubleshooting and repair for moderate network solutions.


 


Education:  Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and work experience. 


 


Required Skills & Experience: 



  • 3+ years of Systems Administrator experience

  • Some knowledge of Hyper-V Virtual machines

  • File Transfer Protocol server experience

  • Experience troubleshooting Windows Server (2008 or higher)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


 


Desired Skills & Experience: 



  • HP/Dell server experience

  • Knowledge of computer operating systems

  • Troubleshooting Active Directory

  • Hyper-V Experience machines on a failover cluster

  • WSUS Experience

  • SolarWinds experience, but not required
