DescriptionJob Overview:
The Associate Electrical Designer is an entry-level position, and their work is completed with close supervision and support. They work within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adhere to quality guidelines. The Associate Electrical Designer should have basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process and appropriate licenses/training certifications.
ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of detail drawings and deliverables of high technical quality and of consistent presentation ensuring clarity and ease of construction
- Gain experience in the following work areas:
- Design
- 2D drafting
- 3D drafting and/or model creation
- Develop basic technical skills to complete assigned work
- Gain an understanding of the Contract Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and all interdisciplinary requirements
- Familiarized with the Company procedures, work instructions, guidelines, and standards for work to be performed and asked for guidance where required
- Maintain a filing system for various drawings and documents as directed by the Senior Designer
- Provide 3D modeling work
- Assist and/or prepare Discipline deliverables such as:
- Detailed design drawings
- As-built drawings
- Filing of project drawings and documents
- Keep the Lead Designer and/or Senior Designer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns
- Assist and/or prepare Electrical Design deliverables such as:
- One-line diagrams
- Schematics
- Interconnection and wiring diagrams Block diagrams
- Area classification drawings Conduit and cable schedules Power layout drawings
- Earthing/grounding layout drawings Lighting layout drawings
- Electrical cable tray drawings Electrical building drawings Electrical support drawings Electrical drawing indexes
Reports to:
Project: Lead Designer
Functional: Supervising Department Manager
Liaise With: Electrical Designers & Senior Electrical Designers
QualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:
- High School graduate with a diploma in Electrical Design, or Drafting in a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Entry level to less than 3 years of drafting and/or design
- Detailed knowledge of 2D (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation) drafting systems and other drafting software
