American Bank is looking for a credit underwriter/analyst who will work directly with our commercial lending officers. Our ideal candidate is a team player with superior communication skills, strong attention to detail, and exceptional service skills. As the commercial credit underwriter/analyst, you’ll perform analysis of customer financial information for new loans and renewal loans and performing analysis for ongoing monitoring of quality/performance of existing loans. 

 Responsibilities:

• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers 

• Organize workflow to ensure timely completion of assignments 

• Evaluate credit information (including existing file information) and request additional information, as necessary 

• Input customer financial information into spreadsheet software 

• Evaluate output data from spreadsheet (trends, significant changes, etc.) 

• Based on the spreadsheet evaluation and input from the loan officer, generate narrative analysis which summarizes the loan request and focuses on ability to repay and quantifies risk 

• Spreads, analyzes, and evaluates periodic information on existing borrowers to assist loan officer in the ongoing monitoring of the quality/performance of loan 

• Evaluates compliance with loan agreement covenants and loan policy 

• Analysis of repayment ability and performance 

• Evaluation of financial and collateral documentation 

• Assists with proofreading and editing of memos generated by the department, as necessary 

• Prepares dual credit risk rating score cards accurately and consistently, in compliance with the Bank’s Risk Rating Policy 

• Performs other duties, projects, research etc. as may be requested by the Commercial Credit Administration Officer, Senior Credit Officer or Chief Lending Officer. Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

• Ability to operate a telephone, PC, fax, photocopier, files, etc. 

• Cross-train for duties of other employees and provide assistance, as necessary 

• Prior to changing, altering or releasing any account information, responsible for authenticating the customer's identity and their authorization to act on behalf of the account as stated on the account's signature card contract

 

Qualifications:

• 2 - 6 years’ experience in American Bank's Credit Department or other similar experience with a financial institution 

• Working knowledge of PCs 

• Working knowledge on the following software programs: Microsoft Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheet) 

• Working knowledge of financial analysis software preferred Education 

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration required, with a major in Accounting or Finance (appropriate experience in the position may be also considered) 

• Minimum 15 hours of accounting required (appropriate experience in the position may be also considered)
