Be our next Mechanical Designer!
In this role, you will be a part of the Oil and Gas & Chemical team, based in the Houston, TX office.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Design work for process equipment including – pressure and non-pressure vessels, tanks, storage tanks, exchangers, towers and internals.
- Work includes conceptual studies, detailed design, field installation, and construction support in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
- Fundamental knowledge of codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE, etc.).
- Support preparation of mechanical equipment calculations, specifications, data sheets, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, RFQ's, technical bid evaluations.
- Coordinates with other engineering disciplines, suppliers, clients.
- Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data.
- Participate in the development of P&ID's and support project schedules.
- Prepare construction specification, construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical equipment.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills are required. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in support of multiple projects is essential.
- Understand work planning and manage design process to the available hours in work plan.
- Understand proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents – and deliver appropriate documentation.
- Work with PC, PM, and Clients to meet scheduled project milestones of multiple projects.
- Market Sector – Understands specific engineering requirements for applications within a market sector.
- QA/QC reviews of all specifications, drawings, and by others.
- Determine content of drawings and specs for Designers to meet the scope of work.
- Develop and monitor work plans to support projects.
- Review code related items with Designers and ensure compliance.
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
- Participate and support shop inspections and site construction visit.
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience.
- Experience in chemical, refining, and chemical energy industry.
- EPC experience preferred.
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Solid CAD design skills with AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Proficiency with Navisworks.
- Good knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals, such as mechanics of material, welding, heat transfer, process and instrumentation diagrams and etc.
- Shop drawings and fabrication experience is definitely an asset.
