JOB TITLE: Loan Underwriter


SUMMARY: This position is responsible for underwriting mortgage loan applications and evaluation loans in order to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews the automated decision and compares this decision to the facts and figures contained in the file.
  • Reviews credit history for acceptable credit.
  • Reviews investor guides to insure salability in the market.
  • Reviews and analyzes income and employment history.
  • Reviews assets available and funds sourced.
  • Reviews collateral to insure value of the property is acceptable.
  • Completes additional forms as required for review.
  • Conditions the loan for additional items needed to decision the loan.
  • Communicates effectively with Loan Officer, Loan Processor and Appraiser.
  • Reviews portions of the compliance requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university preferred. Will consider a combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years closer/funder or related experience.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and Encompass preferred.
