Primary Job Function

In order to help Texas Bay Credit Union (TBCU) stand out as a leading financial institution the Network Services Administrator provides technical expertise and guidance in the development, implementation, analysis, and resolution of end user requests and is responsible for ensuring the smooth, accurate, innovative and production flow of projects and tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

    Installs, configures, maintains, and administers software / hardware such as physical or virtualized desktops and servers, firewalls, routers, switches, network appliances, telephony equipment, and other communications devices, along with their respective applications. 

    Collaborate with peers, project management, credit union leadership and stakeholders on design, strategy, and project activities.

    Assist in establishing and enforcing secure baselines and rigorous system hardening standards for all software, hardware, and applications to maintain data integrity. 

    Assist with defining and managing the roles and access privileges to a variety of applications to prevent unauthorized access.

    Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves system hardware, software, and networking issues; and provides status reports to management. 

    Assist in operational activities, including system upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and performance analysis, to ensure the infrastructure remains robust and scalable. 

    Provides troubleshooting assistance and technical support to staff and team regarding help desk tickets, system functionality and feasibility of future enhancements.

    Researches, develops, and documents, operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and innovative systems administration techniques. Studies existing information systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new systems or processes to improve production or workflow. 

    Maintains workstation/ server data integrity by using appropriate backup software / hardware solutions that align with the disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies. 

    Participate actively in audit remediation processes to maintain compliance and minimize vulnerabilities.

    Remains current on and maintains departmental Standard Operating Procedures. 

    Remain knowledgeable of new and emerging technologies through research, training, and collaboration with industry professionals.

    Provides administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

    Assists the Vice President of Technology in the administration of the department.

    Meet with departmental leadership to gain an understanding of the daily operational procedures. 

    Play an active part in helping credit union teams function smoothly and efficiently. 

    Stay alert to potential problems and propose changes to policies and programs.

    Back-up other coworkers as needed.

    Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

    As an employee of a “Essential Business” (as defined by Texas’s Executive Order GA 14), employees are expected to continue to report to work as scheduled during state issued emergency declarations.

    Comply with all federal, state and local regulations. 

Required Knowledge 

    (1) A bachelor’s degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized by the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. informational technology certifications in lieu of degree)

    Three years of similar or related experience

    Completion of required training courses

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is regularly required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, kneel, talk, hear, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10-15 pounds. This position requires viewing of computer monitor for extended lengths of time and travel to and from all credit union offices.
