OVERVIEW





Independently performs accounting activities for large engineering or construction projects.










SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

May be required to supervise 1 or more lesser experienced accountants and/or related field staff.

 

EDUCATION

 

Requires a 2 or 4 year degree in Accounting or related functional area and/or equivalent knowledge/experience.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Requires 8+ years experience in operational accounting including advanced accounts payable, payroll, advanced billing and the ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles to all areas of responsibility. Must be proficient in the use of spreadsheet packages and have a rudimentary knowledge of standard accounting database structures. Must be able to interpret and apply commercial sections of engineering and construction contracts.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in project kick-off and close-out meetings.
  • Prepares invoices to clients.
  • Prepares checks for subcontractors and vendors.
  • Participates in development of project-specific procedures regarding payments to vendors, invoicing cycles and other cash management issues.
  • Participates in testing and documenting new enterprise-wide procedures. 
  • Facilitiates client in-house audits.
  • Performs cost and revenue analysis on assigned projects or divisions.
  • Performs monthly general ledger account analysis.
  • Reviews assigned client contracts for commercial compliance.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries and account reconciliation's.
  • Coordinates project accounting activity with acticity of project controls and project management.
  • Pursues collections with client.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, client contracts, subcontracts and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and managers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Proficient in the use of standard business financial mathematical functions with the aid of a PC spreadsheet package or calculator.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to existing plants. This requires the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. it also requires clear close and distance  vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to existing plants. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and airborne particles.
