Description

Maintain multiple health and safety initiatives for Texas Pipe & Supply locations.  This position will work closely with Safety, Risk Management and Human Resources to transition all workers compensation claims activities to resolution.  This position will take on a shared responsibility to educate, train and promote hazard recognition as a means of identifying potential threats.  This position will also assist in managing our employee behavior based safety program as well as other initiatives and campaigns.

  • Assist and support branches with all corporate health and safety initiatives
  • Maintain OSHA 300 Logs for all locations
  • First report of injury and subsequent follow up
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure all medical protocols are in place to adequately support employee medical needs.
  • Promote safety through leadership
  • Complete monthly training calendar
  • Complete monthly content for wall board information
  • Support safety committee teams for TPSFOC sites in the Houston area
  • Prepare and distribute monthly branch and manufacturing meeting information 
  • Assist in promoting safety culture throughout the organization
  • Key contact for newsletter activity reporting for the quality and safety department
  • Support branch safety activities as required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 5 years’ experience in an industrial/distribution environment minimum
  • Certifications in areas of health and safety a plus OSHA 10 or 30 
  • Ability to train and lead large or small groups at all levels of the organization
  • Liaison to ensure all corporate initiatives are carried out at all locations
  • Ability to write, interpret and present safety instructions, procedures and policies
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with databases, spreadsheets, presentations and word processing software
  • Excellent skills in communication both verbal and written
  • Preferably bilingual: Spanish

 

  • The worker is subject to both environmental and office conditions.  Conditions vary from cold to hot, rainy and dry. 
  • Typical work week is Monday through Friday 8am -5pm with flexibility based on need.
  • Standing – remaining on ones feet in an upright position at a work area for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking – Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distance.  Must be able to walk on various surfaces such as wet, rocky, uneven or shifting, concrete or mud.
  • Open to light travel as needed
