Job Title: Sales Manager - Business Development

Location: Houston, TX or Atlanta, GA

Job Summary: We are looking for an accomplished Business Development Leader to lead and drive growth in the Industrial Automation and Software sector. This role is responsible for developing strategies, overseeing business expansion, and leading a team of business development professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation and software solutions, with a proven track record in building high-performing teams, securing new logos, and driving business growth through strategic partnerships and market insights.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of business development managers and sales professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.

  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven team culture that focuses on exceeding sales targets and expanding market presence.

  • Drive team performance by setting clear goals, KPIs, and providing ongoing training and development.

Business Development Strategy:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to increase market share in industrial automation and software solutions.

  • Identify new market opportunities, verticals, and partnerships, creating actionable business plans that align with company objectives.

  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to drive business growth and product innovation.

Sales and Revenue Generation:

  • Lead the team in achieving and surpassing sales goals, identifying high-value prospects, and closing major deals.

  • Oversee the development of a robust sales pipeline, ensuring continuous engagement with potential customers and partners in key industrial sectors.

  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and engineering teams to align sales efforts with product offerings and ensure customer satisfaction.

Market Expansion and Competitive Analysis:

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activities to inform business development strategies.

  • Lead efforts to enter new markets, geographic regions, or product segments within the automation and software sectors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of business development or sales experience in industrial automation or software solutions, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing business development team.

  • Strong knowledge of automation technologies (e.g., DCS, PLC, SCADA) and software solutions in the industrial sector.

  • Demonstrated success in closing high-value deals and acquiring new logos.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to business development.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and sales forecasts.

  • Expertise in market analysis, competitive intelligence, and identifying growth opportunities.

  • Proficient in CRM systems, pipeline management, and sales reporting.

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
