Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

This position is responsible for preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis for monthly/quarterly corporate accounting matters, general ledger maintenance, and assisting with the financial reporting process.  The role is well suited for an ambitious, energetic, and highly- motivated individual who has a strong desire to work for a growing company, with significant responsibility, autonomy, and development potential. This role will report to the Corporate Accounting Manager in the Houston Office.

    • Responsible for the complete ownership and execution of the month end close tasks including preparation of journal entries for assigned companies
    • Maintain general and supporting sub-ledgers, including their analysis and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations, for assigned companies and accounts.
    • Prepare monthly, and quarterly reports, including the monthly financial reporting packages with variance analysis
    • Prepare consolidation and elimination entries and maintain intercompany and affiliate reconciliations including balancing counterparties
    • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly external financial reporting financial statements and notes
    • Facilitate both internal and external audits by providing information and explanations to auditors
    • Commitment to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
    • Assist in maintaining the general ledger and maintain the automated account reconciliation systems
    • Maintains professionalism, is team oriented and reacts well under pressure
    • Maintain and perform SOX controls.  
    • Participate in or lead special projects and ad hoc requests as directed
    • Assist with technical accounting research and prepare accounting analysis
    • Maintain systems (e.g. GL, Reporting & automated account reconciliations) as well as research system data exceptions for resolution for Supervisor.
    • All other duties as assigned

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
  • CPA credentials preferred
  • 7+ years of related accounting experience ideally with at least 3 years in corporate or operational accounting preferably in oil and gas and 2+ years of public accounting experience is a plus
  • Ability to use initiative and independently execute tasks successfully is essential
  • Ability to problem solve, come up with solutions and resolve issues is fundamental
  • Thorough attention to detail, accuracy and presentation of deliverables
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel (pivot tables, vlookups etc.)
  • Knowledge of Waterfield, Cognos and Floqast accounting systems a plus
  • Experience with system implementations, conversions and integrations is a plus

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
  • Occasional driving may be needed to travel to Kinetik plants and worksites as needed
  • Available outside of normal working hours as needed for business necessity

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Ability to work effectively in all working conditions noted above.
  • Will require lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 15 lbs. in a safe manner on an occasional basis
