SUMMARY: 

The role of the Staff Accountant is expected to manage the daily operations of the function while focusing on continuous improvement to continue and drive enhancements. The Staff Accountant will also provide support through special projects and ad hoc analysis.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitor bank account positive pay exceptions.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations to the general ledger.
  • Perform day to day general ledger accounting.
  • Calculate and prepare accrual journal entries for assigned business units 
  • Responsible for month, quarter and year-end close of assigned business units 
  • Analyze fluctuations in account balances 
  • Perform specialized projects as assigned
  • Assist in preparing for year-end audit reporting for external auditors. Identify and research audit issues and questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to analyze complex issues and articulate solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Deadline-oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated leadership in teamwork, special projects, and complex assignments
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently on special projects and complex assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of personnel in a large organization

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA a plus.
  • Experience working in a multi-function, multi-geography environment preferred
  • Proven experience designing, building, and managing discrete and/or end-to-end processes
  • Experience in the Legal Services industry a plus.


 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

This role is not a supervisor position.

  

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers whose first language is English. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CPA a plus.
