SUMMARY
The Senior Staff Accountant works in partnership with departmental staff to manage offshore team and ensure day-to-day accounting functions are completed. A successful candidate will have a strong background in balance sheet reconciliations and a clear understanding of full cycle accounting. This position will require the ability to work independently and in collaboration with other senior accountants to meet departmental goals.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage offshore team and provide guidance on how to successfully complete assigned tasks.
- Verify and confirm revenue, journal entries, invoices, inventory, bank reconciliations, and other transactions performed by internal and offshore teams to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
- Provide support to operational locations to complete daily and weekly tasks including but not limited to inventory, daily sales reports, and P&L variances.
- Lead the month-end close process and offer assistance and council to internal and offshore teams.
- Populate internal monthly and quarterly financial statements including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, equity roll forward, and statement of cash flows.
- Participate in the preparation of corporate and franchise taxes, quarterly and interim review activities, and year-end audit activities by external and internal auditors as they relate to corporate accounting and consolidation activities.
- Perform moderately complex analysis and prepare account reconciliations including balance sheet and bank reconciliations in service to issuing financial statements.
- Calculate and record fees, accruals, and allocations.
- Review Alcohol tax reports and Sales tax reports for the State of Texas and file monthly returns.
- Track fixed assets from purchase to disposition. Calculate depreciation monthly.
- Oversee and maintain prepaid account schedules and recognize expenses timely.
- Ad hoc reporting as needed in partnership with FP&A team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is a must. Minimum five years of full cycle GL experience.
- Previous hospitality industry experience preferred, and strong understanding of inventory is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in current versions of Microsoft Excel required. Power BI experience is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be analytical and detail oriented and possess excellent documentation skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of policies and procedures that apply to assignments and insight into the "why" as well as the "how".
- Expected to serve as a resource to others for knowledge transfer, training and checking work. - May occasionally lead a special project or team.
- Ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and management across departments, including leading a small offshore team.
- Strong attention to detail, as well as demonstrated problem-solving and independent decision-making capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills with experience performing detailed financial statement flux analysis with advanced documentation and investigative skills.
- Exceptional organization, time-management, and prioritization skills, as well as on-the-job flexibility and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Works independently through the use of initiative and self-motivation while maintaining high collaboration with manager, lead, and peers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
