Upper School (Grades 9-12) Teacher, Math

 

The Awty International School seeks an Upper School IB Math Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year and beyond.  The position will be full time (20 instructional periods per week, plus other assigned duties) and eligible for benefits.  Courses to be taught will include IB Higher Level Analysis and Approaches and some combination of other courses, potentially including Algebra 2 and other IB DP Math courses.  

 

The school looks for an experienced and engaging teacher who can clearly communicate advanced mathematics concepts to students, and who can excite students about applying academic content to the real world.  The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching in a rigorous academic environment and in a diverse, multicultural community.

Minimum Requirements

 

  • BA or equivalent in Mathematics
  • Experience teaching advanced math (e.g. Pre-calculus, Calculus) in a high school or university setting
  • Work authorization in the United States

 

Ideal Candidate: 

 

  • At least 3 years teaching experience in grades 9-12
  • A Master’s Degree or greater with a concentration in math or education 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals
  • Ability to reach students through diverse teaching methods 
  • Skill to design and supervise student-centered learning and authentic assessments
  • Experience teaching IB HL Math Analysis and Approaches
  • Demonstrated work with students outside of the classroom in math clubs, contests, and IB Extended Essays.
  • Experience with teaching in an on-line environment 
  • Commitment to a rigorous academic program 
  • Second language capability, especially in French or Spanish, is welcome but not required
