The Warehouse Team Leader – CL performs the physical movement of products and materials using various forklifts and material handling equipment. This position is also responsible for maintaining the accuracy of shipping products and reporting any damages, producing labels and packing orders accurately. As a Team Leader, this employee prioritizes his/her own work and the work of others and delegates tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reading customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped
- Moving materials and items from receiving or storage areas to designated areas
- Stocking shelves accurate--items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
- Assisting in counting of physical inventory
- Picks priority shipments first as communicated by the supervisor.
- Boxes and packs orders with packing materials to insure safe delivery.
- Pulls product for orders, verifying product numbers and quantity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment
- Performing tasks safely, accurately, and steadily within the allotted time frame
- Striving for 100% internal and external customer satisfaction and continuous improvement
- Maintains certification on use of forklift and other equipment, such as reach trucks
- Provides back-up to warehouse supervisor staff and acts as primary customer contact in his/her absence
- Perform other duties as assigned
Team Leader Responsibilities
- Assign duties and examine employees’ work for accuracy, neatness, and compliance to procedures
- Provide back-up to warehouse supervisory staff and acts as primary customer contact in their absence
- Attend daily or conduct weekly operational kick-off and conducts pre-shift meetings with own team members
- Participate in hiring of new employees and in new hire onboarding and orientation
- Escalate customer service, facility, and employee-related issues to supervisors and managers as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides direct supervision to three to five staff members in support of department management as required. May occasionally supervise temporary workers.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree (AA) from a two-year college or equivalent work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
- Three to five years’ experience working in a warehouse shipping, receiving, inventory handling environment
- Team lead experience preferred, but not required
- Working knowledge of various warehouse tools and equipment required
- Basic proficiency in operating a warehouse hand-held device
- Forklift certification required and will work all kinds of material handling equipment – order picker, reach truck, electric pallet jacks
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems, basic inventory control, and domestic transportation documentation

- Willingness to work overtime hours and some weekends, evenings, and/or holidays
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Stand, stoop, kneel, sit, crawl, and walk for extended periods of time
- Push and pull loaded carts, pallet jacks and strollers
- Lift and carry cartons, materials, and wooden pallets at a minimum of 25 pounds
- Use arms, hands, fingers, and body to transport cartons, materials and wooden pallets
- Use of senses to include hearing, talking, touching, feeling and vision. Specific vision abilities required include seeing clearly in both near and far distances

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The environment is safe provided proper measures and precautions are taken. The typical working environment includes the following:
- Working inside and outside of a warehousing and distribution facility
- Working inside and outside of trailers and containers
- Working around electrical or battery driven packaging machines and conveyors with moving parts
- Working around moving objects and vehicles
- Exposure to dampness, humidity and ambient temperatures
- Working in dark trailers, aisles or walkways until proper lighting is employed
- Slippery, wet or uneven surfaces.
- Use various manual material handling devices to include forklifts, dollies, and pallet jacks.
