Job Description

The Ellen Boniuk Early Childhood School of the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC seeks a Pre-School Teacher to join its forward-thinking Jewish preschool in West Houston. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


 



  1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.

  • Supervising the classroom; Planning and implementing the daily program.

  • General housekeeping tasks (wiping tables, sweeping floor, making sure counter tops and shelves are neat and orderly, etc.).

  • Maintaining professional attitudes and loyalty to the school.

  • Treating all children with dignity and respect.

  • Keeping accurate attendance records.

  • Administering medications to students who are signed up for medication at school.

  • Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.

  • Diapering and/or assisting children with toileting activities as needed.

  • Participate and supervise water activities.

  • Abide by the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct for Early Childhood Professionals and the ERJCC Confidentiality Policy.

  • Abide by the ERJCC Personnel Policies.

  • Know, understand, and follow the guidelines stated in any Handbooks, Minimum Standards of the TDFPS and any other administrative directives.

  • Maintain current certification in Pediatric First Aid and CPR of infants and children.

  • Assist in public relations events sponsored by the school and reflect the philosophy of the school to parents, new staff and the community.

  • Maintain strict supervision of the children at all times and an accurate count of the group at all times.

  • Discuss pertinent problems or concerns with supervisor, the co-teacher or office staff as appropriate.

  • Positively guide the social learning of children.

  • Cultivate warm, professional partnerships with families and colleagues.

  • Engage in solutions-oriented problem-solving with peers and administration.

  • Enthusiastically pursue ongoing professional development.

  • Expand the school's inclusive philosophy so ALL children thrive through hands-on experiential learning.

  • Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Director.

Qualifications


  1. Professional experience utilizing project-based learning with young children.

  2. Outstanding organizational skills.

  3. Proficiency utilizing technology in support of education.

  4. An engaging, hands-on approach to working with teams of professionals.

  5. A positive, approachable demeanor.

  6. A creative and flexible outlook.

  7. Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent; CDA; College Degree preferred.

  8. Must meet all minimum standards as required by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS).

  9. Must be in good health to work with young children and able to physically lift a child under 25 pounds.

  10. Ability to be physically flexible and able to sit on the floor with the children.

  11. Are available to work 40 hours/week year-round (June 2023-May 2024).
