JOB STATEMENT

We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist. This position carries out responsibilities in the following HR areas: Benefits administration, Payroll, training, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. 

 

 

 

JOB DUTIES:

 

Benefits Administration: 

  • Performs benefits administration including claims resolution.  
  • Yearly assessment of benefits with Chief HR & Culture Officer.   
  • Processing claims for HRA, Workers Comp & Unemployment.  
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA and other health and welfare plan regulations.  
  • Ensure compliance and maintain all employee files and department records. 
  • Manage all leaves of absence, FMLA, and requests for Short- and Long-Term Disability.
  • Oversight for compliance and payroll funding of the 401(k) plan, including automatic participant enrollment and validation/maintenance of elections. 

Payroll: 

  • Process weekly & bi-weekly payrolls. Ensure wage and hour compliance with local, state and federal laws.   
  • Updating payroll records, changes, exemptions, deductions, job titles, job classifications and department transfers. 

 

Recruiting/Terminations: 

  • Conducts, coordinates, and/or assists with the new hire and benefits orientations. 
  • Process new hires, terminations and employee status changes. 
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel.  

Compliance: 

  • Administers human resource procedures, assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Compliance reporting including ACA, OSHA, 5500s, EEOC, etc. 

General: 

  • Provides a variety of administrative support services to the Chief Human Resources & Culture Officer.   
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience of federal and state employment laws and other government compliance regulations. 
  • Works with Chief HR & Culture Officer to plan, develop and deliver events for employees and oversee the employee engagement & workplace culture working committee.  
  • Performs other tasks as assigned. 

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Updates job descriptions, hiring and training any new team members.  

REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE):

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist for a minimum of 2 years.  
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.    
  • Advanced Word and Excel skills.
  • Experience with HRIS preferably Paycom.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, energized and quickly changing environment. 
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills. 
  • Detail oriented, able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task. 
  • Ability to be self-directed and take initiative. 
  • Ability to maintain confidential information. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.  
  • Exhibits a positive attitude with good communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Understanding of (or a commitment to learning about) historical and institutional racism in the American theatre.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift and move 25 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where directions and priorities can change rapidly.
  • Typical hours are during the day, but the position requires flexibility to be available for weekend, holidays and evening work hours as needed.
