VP of Human Resources
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced VP of Human Resources to lead our HR department and provide strategic direction for our people operations. This leader will report directly to the COO and play a critical role in shaping The Amaro Law Firm’s Culture of Excellence & Accountability.

Well established and nationally recognized Plaintiff's law firm in Houston, Texas is experiencing rapid growth. Our firm has been helping the injured and wronged for over 19+ years in personal injury, insurance claims, and mass tort litigation. We are dedicated to the highest quality legal representation, a collaborative firm culture, and unrivaled customer service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the COO to develop the “Amaro Way” of management.
- Ability to collaborate with the senior executive team on key HR issues as we continue to grow rapidly.
- Support the executive management team and assist them in achieving their goals for the firm and its team members.
- Provide strong HR leadership for Policy Management across the entire firm.
- Ensure that the HR Depts weekly, monthly and annual KPI’s are being met.
- Work closely with the COO developing our current management team’s leadership and HR skills and the development of our future leaders in the “Amaro Way” of Management.
- Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding procedures.
- Develop, implement, and manage company-wide HR policies and procedures ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and ensure that all policies are equally and fairly enforced across the firm.
- Work with the COO & Controller to design and oversee comprehensive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent.
- Work with our COO & Managing Attorney ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement effective retention strategies to reduce employee turnover and achieve the firm’s 80% retention goals.
- Lead a team of HR professionals providing mentorship and professional development.
- Work with our Managing Attorney to track attorney licensure requirements.
- Coordinating and consulting with labor & employment lawyers on key issues when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience scaling HR functions in fast-growing organizations.
- Expert knowledge of HR policy development, implementation, and management.
- Extensive experience with compensation and benefits program design and administration.
- Demonstrated success in developing and tracking HR KPIs and metrics to measure department effectiveness.
- Expert in Federal & Texas employment law and HR compliance requirements.
- Track record of implementing successful retention strategies that measurably improve employee retention rates.
- SHRM certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years at a senior leadership level.
- Experience leading a HR Dept for a company with 100+ employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Master's degree in HR, Business, or related field.
- Experience in legal industry or professional services.
- Additional HR certifications .
- Experience with HR technology and HRIS systems.
- Strong data analysis skills for workforce planning and HR metrics.
